Making The Difference Educational Platform

Making The Difference is Woolworths' online portal to inspire learning. It shares the retailer's expertise in healthy living, the environment, wellness, and sustainability with students, parents, and teachers across South Africa, free to use. The platform pulls together the Classmates video series, downloadable work packs with educator and learner booklets, printable posters, recipe cards, and articles, all organised by grade so a teacher can find what fits their class.

We worked with Methodlab and the Woolworths team to design every part of the platform: the information architecture, the homepage and library that hold a growing catalogue of formats, the article reading experience, and the system of cards and covers that ties it together. Methodlab led the project, and Tim and his team built the front end, the back end, and a custom content management system for the platform. Our work included product strategy, UX research, UI, and the design system the in-house team continues to build on.
